This afternoon, around 4 PM, a cataclysmic event occured under the Fremont Street Experience canopy in Las Vegas much rarer than a lunar eclipse or a completed Strip commercial venture in the last 18 months.
Cal-Neva (Binions) and Golden Nugget released their Superbowl props at the same time in late afternoon..
You would have thought Dr. Bob was giving away free 5-stars at one joint and baptizing Sharp children at the other. Talk about a dilemma for Sharps. Where do I go first?. I am a self-respecting Sharp and I am supposed to be first to take advantage of a 5-cent line move before the other guy gets it!
For those not familiar with downtown Las Vegas, the two competing books at Binions and Nugget are about 50 yards apart, separated by a variety of sales-oriented kiosks and mentally-ill people on the mall.
Today, the competition to save a nickel on a line move cut a swath of destruction through the mall that may leave us without a place to buy a fake tattoo for weeks!
I like it! Tell Mayor Goodman to make it an annual pre-Superbowl event--"The Running Of The Sharps."
