And shouldn't this be WhippingOutMyPick or at least the avatar?

If you don't gamble, how can you give out picks?

Main motivation for posting is to show others how to correctly format these picks threads.

Clearly, you do not bet.
Chap asked you that question for a reason. You realize you weighted the same your first round matchups and your full tournament bets?
You should probably leave the betting to those who have a clue what they are doing. I say that with all due respect.

What gave it away first, his betsizes or the fact that he's stated it publicly on numerous occasions?

FWIW, we talked a bit about the unit betsize we would allow. Jon suggested partial units for stuff exactly like this, e.g. longshot futures, but I left that out for fear it would make rules too complicated.
The Picks Forum is a work in progress. I think the overrall idea is a strong one provided we iron out the flaws. This will take some time.

You could make the to win amount a constant 1, 2 or 3 units, but even then you'd get into some crazy decimals when betting +8835 type stuff.

I hope you realize this is a bad idea, Jon.
I understand that you want to show people how to do it, but I think you should make that explicit at the top of the thread, even in the thread title. Reason being there could be noobs that come here that don't know you don't actually bet these, and since you're a moderator and the founder they'll assume you know something and might tail you.
Something to think about, but IMO it seems pretty irresponsible. While of course regulars know better, if you plan on having the site grow new posters come with that and we don't need them losing their BR betting your golf picks :)

Yes, I am.
I know this may surprise you, but some people (in fact, I would assume the vast majority of readers of sports betting forums in some way) actually put money on things. And as crazy as it sounds, there are idiots that follow random posters on internet message boards.

It's a rough world out there. People who bet on things for the wrong reasons lose their money. If you want to start a movement to protect them all from themselves then knock yourself out.

My point was it's a Founder posting the picks, and not just some random person.
Of course suckers are going to lose their money, but as Chap suggested why not just use an alias or something? It seems misleading to me for someone in a position of authority on the site to post fake picks.

OK,OK. I certainly don't want a nation of bankrupt idiots on my conscience. I've added a note to the sticky thread at the top of this forum.
