Just clicked on a link inside an MSN IM sent from the ID of
a member here. Bad move. Now have a virus I think is called YUK
and I'm having no luck clearing it. Anyone have any info on this?

I would be careful about links in IMs, even if you receive them
routinely from that person.

Antivirusxppro2009 is the actual name of it from what I can deduce.
These guys should have their balls dipped in battery acid.

I got caught too. Mine showed up as a message from someone I talk to just about every day. I'm digging around for info on it, if I get any I'll post it.

Going into your received files and deleting all the jpg's should fix it, according to my computer guy. I didn't get it though, so I'm not sure about this, fwiw.

I was getting links for a php page that was trying to get me to download an executable of some kind. Was getting it from multiple people, I assume it originated from one source though :)

Thankfully I run OS X, so I don't have to worry about such matters...

I didn't have this problem, but I've read on other forums that malwarebytes has been able to isolate and remove antiviruspro 2009 if it hasn't deep rooted yet. Give it a shot.

If the virus has already sunk itself into your system pretty good, the best thing to do is reformat. You guys might also look into ghosting if you insist on opening questionable links. :^)

I had my computer guy come over and after an hour or so of trying to find a solution on the internet that worked, he ended up doing a System Restore back to a couple of days ago. (Didn't affect any document files)

Wish I could do a system restore but the virus is blocking it.
The link LVHCM put up worked to rid most of it but there are still
after effects like the system restore problem that remain.

Says "contact domain administrator" when I try to access the
system restore function. Was doing the same for the task manager
but that is working now.
