View Full Version : Mistakes In Props

People who make props make mistakes.
By "mistakes," I'm not talking about Lyle Ferrigno of the Salamanders getting 6 tackles when he is only good for 4. Every goofball Sharp will pick that up.
I'd stick with ambiguous and imprecise language on the sheets and the tickets themselves. Las Vegas, often copying off offshore mistakes, offers a few gems this year.

One copying mistake I noticed this year was the ARI +1.5 punts. ARI should be the fave in Punts given they are the underdog. Greek opened it there and the line really moved. I didn't get in until -240. Others copied and I got some there. A couple of days later, I noticed the Greek had changed the prop to ARI -1.5 punts (and deleted my bet @#$%^&*), but my bets at other books stood.

Under 3.5 FG +110 (someone beat me and got +120), +105, +100, -105, -110, -115, -120, -125, -135, -145 was nice at Boyd. No Defensive/Special Teams score +160 (should be -160 at least) was nice at Venetian, someone other than me is happy with that bet...

The mistake is sometimes a typo and if a casino is copying
that is the price they have to pay for being lazy and swiping
someone else's props and slapping them up. The other way
that big mistakes occur is assuming that the fave in the game
should be the fave in every stat. Works for most stats but things
like tackles, turnovers and punts you'll see goofs all the time.
Did find the AZ +1 punt @ +110 and bet it. Would have taken it
elsewhere at much worse a price but haven't seen it.
Also have:
Pitt to have no def INTs +300
Pitt +1/2 3rd down conversion -130
Will there be a 2pt Conversion ATTEMPT +500
There are others but I'm too embarrassed to post them.

Wow, those are impressive ones. Here I am trying to plug away with 10 to 20-cents of edge, and you guys are gettng 20% of edge! I'm jealous.

Most memorable one I can think of is a few Super Bowls ago when some books had the streaker prop up. I had never seen that before. Different books had different wording in their bets.....some books just posted a bet on if there would be a streaker.....others used verbeage saying the streaker had to be fully naked. A friend killed SIA on that one. SIA worded it so that the streaker had to be completely naked.....but when he streaked he kept on the socks so the No Streaker at SIA at -170 won.
Mark Roberts was the guys name I believe. Serial streaker. Funny stuff.

I had the streaker one on SIA, but had to lay -700 and the max bet was only risking $100. In addition to his socks and shoes, Mark Roberts wore a g-string with part of a plastic football covering his peas and carrot:

5 Dimes words all their props that way. If you are going to
go that route you might as well take the same type of thing
a few lines down with:
AZ total kickoffs UN 9.5 +145 or
AZ times penalized UN 11.5 +120
The same format is used for all their combined teams totals
so it will be tough to say you got confused on that particular one.
There are a dozen or so worded the very same way.
Better pull for 2 INTS so you push that one because that's the
best you can hope for.
